Tree nuts like cashews, almonds, hazelnuts, pistachios, walnuts, brazil nuts, macadamia nuts, and pecans are valuable commodities. Groundnuts/peanuts have a comparatively low market value, but are produced in very large quantities.

Oxidation and rancidity caused by mold are common threats to nut preservation which VacQPack can prevent. VacQPack’s bulk packaging and organically compliant fumigation have brought very positive operational results to the cashew industry, with considerable reduction in losses due to oxidation, condensation, infestations and other external factors.

The new packaging has become palletized, mechanized and therefore easier to handle. It has turned out to be even more competitive than the conventional jute bag system, because it does not require as much labor for port consolidation or unloading at destination, and it doesn’t need drybags for dehumidification on container or a carton for additional protection.

There has recently been a great shift of paradigm in preservation for the storage and transport of nuts. The cashew industry has replaced the traditional 20 to 60 kg bag sacking with larger bags of 1 to 2 tons.

This was a successful swing in the industry that many others can replicate. It required only small adaptation from the operations point of view and when all the players realized the benefits, adoption was fast.
